What is Roblox?

Roblox Studio – what is it and where to download it?

We already mentioned Roblox Studio above, but let’s dive into exactly what it does and how it can even help you earn money. Although there are guides online for running Roblox Studio on other gaming devices, it is primarily and officially intended for Windows PCs only. It’s a program that looks like any other graphic editor at first glance. But Roblox Studio is used to program games for Roblox and is completely free for all users. You can download it from the developers’ official website and start designing your own games or in-game digital products. These community-created games and products are the foundation of Roblox and make up all its content. While some in-game items are free to download, others must be paid for using an in-game currency called Robux. Revenue from these microtransactions is split 70/30 between the game’s developer and Roblox Corporation. Roblox games themselves are always free. This means that even regular users can make money through Roblox, and there are even some individuals who make a living from creating content full time. However, to earn money, you must have an active paid Roblox Premium membership. Selling add-ons is allowed only for selected individuals who collaborate directly with Roblox Corporation. An interesting statistic: more than 20 million different games are created in Roblox Studio each year, and the majority are made by underage users. Robux is the in-game currency that allows users to make transactions in Roblox. It can be converted from real money using vouchers, gift codes, or standard online payment. Unlike most game currencies, Robux can also be converted back into real money through a system called Developer Exchange, which is built into the game. Users can use Robux to buy add-ons for their avatars, which represent them in Roblox game worlds. Other paid add-ons are available too, such as vehicles that would otherwise be inaccessible. There is no community marketplace in Roblox like on the digital distribution platform Steam. Instead of a reward, these sites often lead to phishing scams that steal your personal data—including access to your online banking. Don’t fall for overly attractive online offers.

Before downloading the game client, you need to create a user account on Roblox’s official website. This only takes a few minutes, and after registration, you’ll be able to download the client or be redirected to the appropriate app store (such as App Store or Google Play). You can also customize your avatar, chat with friends, and download individual games on the official Roblox website. The games launch using the downloaded and installed game client.

Given that anyone can create games in Roblox Studio, it’s almost inevitable that many of them are low quality. But don’t worry—players can rate and comment on games, helping you find those worth playing. The massive selection of games can also be filtered quite easily. All Roblox games are completely free, and among the millions of available game worlds, there’s something for everyone. As mentioned earlier, you can even host birthday parties in some games—and the experience is even better with VR headsets. The most played Roblox game today is Brookhaven RP, a kind of virtual life simulator where every player plays their avatar’s role. It overtook the former number one game, Adopt Me!, which also focuses on role-playing (RP). In third place is Blox Fruits, a combat game. Tower of Hell in fourth place is a challenging platformer, and MeepCity rounds out the top five. To date, an incredible number of games have been created on Roblox. While some are gems, others are best avoided. Still, the platform truly offers something for everyone.
