Some might find it problematic that FighterZ borrows heavily from other fighting games, but fortunately, the game designers at Arc System Works have also brought in many of their own original ideas. Of course, you’ll find special moves and attacks here, but you’ll need to use your Ki points to perform them. During the fight, the player also collects Dragon Balls by successfully executing combos. Once you have enough, you can use them to perform a special attack. The core of the game is undoubtedly the unique and unmistakable characters from the Dragon Ball series. Each player chooses three characters at the beginning, and to win, all three opponents must be defeated. You can switch your fighters during combat and even use them for assist attacks. The base roster consists of 21 characters, three more can be unlocked by playing the story mode, and twenty are available through paid DLCs. In total, there are 44 fighters in the game, all known from the Dragon Ball anime. The game features a ranking system in both arcade mode and online multiplayer battles, where players increase their ranking by winning matches. Since its release in 2018, Dragon Ball FighterZ has received regular updates and is a solid fighting game. However, we must be honest and say that if you’re not a fan of the Dragon Ball series, there are better dueling fighting games out there.
