Didn’t you just win?
Eurojackpot is one of the most popular lottery games, promising truly astronomical winnings across a total of twelve prize tiers. Players select five numbers from one drum and two additional numbers from the second. Drawings are held twice a week, and players in the Czech Republic also have the chance to participate in additional side games. Pick your lucky numbers and if fortune is on your side, you could wake up a millionaire the next day.
This is an international lottery operated in 18 EU countries, provided in the Czech Republic by the lottery company Sazka. Players can place their bets either on their official website or in the Sazka mobile app, as well as in person directly at Sazka branches and retail points. In the first drum, players pick 5 numbers from 1 to 50, and in the second drum, 2 numbers from 1 to 12. As a bonus, they can also play Extra 6, a set of six numbers generated by computer or pre-printed on a paper ticket.
Each ticket can be subscribed for up to 12 draws, extending its validity for up to 6 weeks. However, the more subscriptions you choose, the higher the cost of the ticket. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday in Finland. Final bets for a given draw are accepted on the day of the draw until 7:00 PM. The draw results are then published on Sazka’s website and branches a few hours later, as they must first undergo thorough verification in all participating countries.

The total prize depends on the number of matched numbers and is divided into 12 prize tiers. To win the jackpot, the player must correctly select all five numbers from the first drum and two numbers from the second. In that case, the prize can exceed one billion CZK. Second and third places still offer million-level rewards, requiring just five numbers from the first drum and either one or no number from the second, as seen in the table below. The prize pool is subject to change depending on the total bets and number of winners.
Prize tier | Matched numbers | Average prize |
1st | 5 + 2 | €62,927,000 |
2nd | 5 + 1 | €600,000 |
3rd | 5 + 0 | €150,000 |
4th | 4 + 2 | €5,000 |
5th | 4 + 1 | €310 |
6th | 3 + 2 | €155 |
7th | 4 + 0 | €110 |
8th | 2 + 2 | €25 |
9th | 3 + 1 | €20 |
10th | 3 + 0 | €15 |
11th | 1 + 2 | €15 |
12th | 2 + 1 | €10 |
In this additional game, players do not select the numbers themselves and must therefore rely entirely on chance. If playing online, the numbers are automatically generated by a computer once the participation checkbox is selected. If they don’t like the numbers, they can request a new set. When playing at a branch, the six numbers are pre-printed on a paper ticket and cannot be changed. The amount of the prize depends on how many of the six numbers match the winning ones (always counted from the end).
Prize tier | Matched numbers | Prize amount | Maximum number of winners per draw |
1st | 6 | €80,000 | 1 |
2nd | 5 | €8,000 | 9 |
3rd | 4 | €800 | 90 |
4th | 3 | €80 | 900 |
5th | 2 | €10 | 9,000 |
6th | 1 | €5 | 90,000 |
If players want to increase their chances of winning, it pays to choose the right strategy. Sazka publishes the complete history of drawn numbers in the Eurojackpot lottery on its official website, which players can use to create their own analysis. Among the most frequently drawn numbers are 20 in the first drum and 9 in the second, while 25 from the first drum and 11 from the second appear only rarely.
The odds of correctly guessing all five numbers from the first drum are 1:2,118,760, which corresponds to the third prize tier, since to win the jackpot, players also need to guess the two numbers from the second drum. However, since there are 66 unique pairs that can be created from numbers 1–12, the chance of winning decreases to 1:139,838,160, as shown in the table below.
Prize tier | Matched numbers | Chance of winning |
1st | 5 + 2 | 1 : 139,838,160 |

The process of claiming winnings depends on whether the bet was placed online or in person at a branch. If playing at a branch, players can collect winnings of up to €40 at any location. Winnings up to €2,000 can be paid out at selected sales points by prior arrangement. Amounts of up to €10,000 are paid out at designated Sazka locations by prior arrangement and only via bank transfer. For even higher winnings, players must arrange collection through the Customer Service Line. Players betting online can pick up €200 per 24 hours at any branch. Bank transfers between the player’s gaming account and their regular bank account are not limited.
Since 2015, most million-euro winners have come from Germany, where €2.7 billion has been paid out to 1,990 players, including a record jackpot of €96 million. Other top countries include Finland, where 468 players shared €870 million, and Denmark, with 328 winners receiving a total of €310 million. The highest individual win overall was achieved by a player from Norway on January 16, 2024, who won €118,610,000.
The Czech Republic holds 10th place. A total of €184 million has been paid out, with the highest win recorded in 2015 when a lucky winner from the Pardubice region took home €100 million. The second-highest win in the Czech Republic occurred in March 2023, with a prize of €9,400,000.
